Former Police Schools, PAL Officer Charged With Sexual Assault: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police arrested a former New Haven cop and school resource officer in a sexual assault case that has been under investigation for months, authorities said.
Detective Boyle obtained an arrest warrant for Jeremy Elliot, 41, , police spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr said. The allegations occurred while Elliott was employed by the police department as a school and Police Athletic League officer, Carr said. He was employed with the NHPD from 2008 to 2021, she said. The alleged sexual assault was reported as occurring between the years of 2012 to 2014.
The victim came forward with a complainant on March 1, 2023, Carr said, adding that "due to the sensitivity of the alleged crime, limited information will be disclosed."

"Through a thorough examination of statements and other evidence, Elliott was identified as the suspect in a sexual assault case involving a juvenile," Carr said.
Elliott, of Glastonbury, was charged Thursday with second-degree sexual assault and was taken into custody, Carr said, by the Wethersfield Police on Department and then transported to the New Haven Police department for processing. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson was quoted in a news release as saying the police department takes all allegations of sexual assaults seriously."
"The city of New Haven deserves police officers who serve and protect and respect their authority," Jacobson said. "This type of alleged behavior will not be tolerated at the New Haven Police Department."
