Ground Officially Broken On West Ridge Apartments In West Rock Neighborhood
Construction to begin on new $34 M 65-unit apartment complex with 80% affordable units, designed for seniors, individuals with disabilities.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Ground was broken and the new 65-unit apartment complex at 7—17 Stone Street in the West Rock neighborhood was celebrated Monday by Mayor Justin Elicker, Giordano Development and the Glendower Group, co-developers of West Ridge Apartments, along with state and local officials.
The seven-story West Ridge development will include 65 units designed for seniors and individuals with disabilities with 80 percent, or 52 units, of affordable housing for households earning up to 50 percent of the area median income. They include 36 units for applicants on the New Haven Housing Authority’s waitlist, 16 units of supportive housing for tenants on the CT Department of Developmental Services’ waitlist, and 13 market-rate units, according to the Mayor's office.
"This $34.3 million development represents a significant public-private partnership with funding from local, state, and federal sources," a news release from Elicker reads. "It is also a green, highly energy-efficient, all-electric complex, built to Passive House and LEED Platinum standards. It will be constructed adjacent to the existing Park Ridge apartment buildings, which offer 160 subsidized housing units for seniors and individuals with disabilities, creating a campus-like setting along the Stone Street corridor."
The project represents the latest development in New Haven's "ambitious" housing agenda of bringing 10,000 new units online over 10 years, with 1,000 new units brought online last year and 7,000 new units already in the pipeline with 25 percent designated as affordable or deeply affordable.
