Hollywood Icon Drops By New Haven Pizzeria

NEW HAVEN, CT — A Hollywood icon stopped by a local pizza shop in New Haven over the weekend, and it's not your first or even third guess.

The "Daredevil" and "Justice League" star dropped by Zeneli Pizzeria e Cucina Napoletana at 138 Wooster Street on Sunday while he was in the city for Yale's annual Family Weekend. Violet Affleck, the actor's daughter with Jennifer Garner, is a sophomore at the Ivy League institution.

Zeneli, long in the shadow of its more famous neighbors Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Modern Apizza, and Sally's Apizza, is enjoying a strong run of late. Last year, The Robb Report placed Zeneli at No. 35 on its list of The 50 Best Pizzerias in America. Earlier this year, Zeneli was named among the Best Pizzerias in the U.S. based on the findings of a team of inspectors who anonymously evaluate pizzerias around the world. The roaming gourmands praised the restaurant's "true Neapolitan pizza, light and well leavened, skillfully stretched, topped with fresh and authentic ingredients, cooked in a wood-fired oven."
