Jury Convicts New Haven Man, 22, Of Criminal Firearm Possession: Court
While in jail, he called family member, asked them to remove an item from a relative's car, which turned out to be loaded gun: State's Atty.
NEW HAVEN, CT —A 22-year-old New Haven man was found guilty by a Superior Court jury of criminal possession of a firearm, Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. said.
According to evidence presented at trial, Emanuel Lowery made telephone calls while in the custody of the Department of Correction to a family member asking them to remove an item from the backseat of a relative's vehicle, Doyle said.
After an execution of a search warrant, members of the New Haven Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit were able to locate a loaded .38-caliber Special revolver, the State’s Attorney noted.

A previously convicted felon, Lowery is prohibited under Connecticut law from possessing firearms and has a prior conviction for the same offense, court records show.
Lowery is set to be sentenced March 28.
