Jury Finds New Haven Man, 45, Guilty On Firearm Charge: Prosecutor
In March 2020, East Haven police charged Demetrice Lewis, 45, with having a loaded .38 revolver while a convicted felon: State's Attorney
NEW HAVEN, CT —New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. today announced that a jury in New Haven Superior Court on April 26, 2024 found Demetrice Lewis, 45, of New Haven, guilty of criminal possession of a revolver.
Doyle said that evidence at the trial showed that in the "early morning hours of March 27, 2020, in East Haven, Lewis, a convicted felon, possessed a loaded Charter Arms .38-caliber SPL Revolver on his waistband, secured by a holster."
The arrest was made by the East Haven Police Department and the case was prosecuted by Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Jacqueline M. Fitzgerald and Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney David J. Strollo, investigator Dietrich Hernandez and inspector Sean Faughnan.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 9, in New Haven Superior Court.
Criminal Possession of a Revolver is a class C felony charge that can result in a prison sentence ranging from a two-year mandatory minimum sentence to up to 10 years of incarceration.
