NEW HAVEN, CT — Just after midnight Sunday, cops broke up a street racing scene with some 50 spectator vehicles, with spinning-in-place tires, reckless driving and revving engines, at East and Water streets, according to a post on "X."

Police said cars were seen exiting the Sports Haven parking lot at a high rate of speed in multiple directions."

One, a red Honda Accord, attempted to flee from officers by jumping the curb, but became stuck, causing heavy damage to his vehicle, cops said. The driver, a 21-year-old from New Haven, was issued a misdemeanor summons and his vehicle was towed, police said.
