Local Fraternity Plans 144th Anniversary Event

Gamma Delta Psi Fraternity, a high school level fraternity, and its college affiliate, Gamma Psi, are celebrating their founding with a journey to the place of their origination, New Haven CT. With 89 chapters throughout the USA and Canada, it all started on April 13, 1879 at Hillhouse High School.

Meetings were initially held at the home of founder Alexander Jay Wurts at 111 Whitney Avenue, later to be known as the Taft Mansion. The Alpha chapter, drawing its membership from Hillhouse and other local schools existed into the 1950s.

Plans for the weekend celebration begin on April 14 as alumni from VA, FL, NC, NY and Ontario Canada gather at the Hyatt Place-Milford. The weekend agenda includes a visit
to the New Haven Museum, Evergreen Cemetery, a photo shoot at the Taft Mansion, the Yale campus, and enjoying dining in New Haven.
