NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man, 32, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Wednesday to having a loaded gun while on supervised release following a federal prison term, the Justice Department announced.
In 2017, Elbert Llorrens got five years in prison and five years of supervised release for committing multiple carjackings and armed robberies, according to Acting U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Marc H. Silverman. Llorrens was under federal supervision when he possessed the firearm, Silverman said. According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 1, 2024, Llorrens possessed a loaded Smith & Wesson, model SD40 VE, .40 caliber pistol.
It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce, Silverman said.
