Man, 62, Found Dead In Hemingway Creek Strangled To Death: Officials

Now a homicide victim, the New Haven man's body was found face down in the Quinnipiac Meadows waterway last Friday morning, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A man, found face down in Hemingway Creek was strangled to death, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who has ruled the death a homicide.

The body of Miguel Rivera, 62, of New Haven was found early last Friday morning, authorities said. Police and firefighters were called at around 7 a.m. to the area of Hemingway Creek in the Quinnipiac Meadows section of New Haven. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene, New Haven police spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart said.

The medical examiner's office conducted a preliminary examination at the scene and initially found no signs of trauma, took custody of the body and conducted an autopsy.

Police notified Rivera's family before releasing his identity Tuesday afternoon
