NEW HAVEN, CT — Late afternoon Wednesday, cops were called to the Dunkin' Donuts on Whalley Avenue and Anthony Street for reports of a shooting. When they got there, finding no victim spoke to witnesses who shared that there was an "altercation" between a male and a female, and when she tried to flee in a car, the 20-year-old male fired at the vehicle, police said.

Police said the man, Marcus Smith of New Haven, ran from the scene.

Soon after, an "assault victim," arrived at the Milford Police Department and was being taken to the hospital, police said. She was not shot, but had injuries from the "altercation," at the New Haven coffee shop.

Police found that her vehicle had been struck by a bullet, and matched the handgun with an extended magazine cops would later find at Smith's home when they went armed with a search warrant and arrested him, according to a post on "X."

Smith was charged with seven counts of risk of injury to a minor, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree threatening, attempt to commit first-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and four gun charges. And, cops said he already had an outstanding warrant for assault and breach of peace.
