Mayor Harp Announces Summer's 'Friday Night Flicks' Voting

Residents are urged to register their favorite films before Mar. 3. Movies from previous years include The Goonies, Frozen, and more.

From the Office of the Mayor: Mayor Toni N. Harp said today the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Trees has launched its public voting period for movies to be featured this summer during the popular film festival, ‘Friday Night Flicks.’

This year’s film series will be the third annual edition – an outdoor movie every Friday night starting in June and running through August. Each week a different movie is shown at a different New Haven park, ranging from Wooster Square to Quinnipiac.

Movies shown in past years include: The Goonies, Frozen, Casablanca, Back to the Future, Finding Nemo, and Grease.

“Every Friday at 8:30 from June 2nd to August 18th we will show a movie in a different city park. Help us pick what to show. You can vote for the same movie in every park or pick all of your favorites. We will only show each movie once and will use an algorithm to make sure all the top picks make the list,” the parks ‘n’ rec department announced on its Web site.

City residents are encouraged to vote for their favorite movies on the list provided or suggest their own favorites that may not be currently listed.
