Mayor Reaffirms Inclusive City Commitment, Provides LGBTQ Resources

NEW HAVEN, CT —Last Friday, Mayor Justin Elicker other city officials and community leaders "reaffirmed New Haven’s commitment as an inclusive city for the LGBTQ+ community" during a news briefing at the New Haven Pride Center. The delegation also shared important resources and services available to LGBTQ+ residents.

In a news release, the Mayor's office noted the news briefing was "in response to the recent anti-LGBTQ+ actions and statements by President Trump and his administration."

During the event, the city released a new LGBTQ+ Toolkit and Resource Guide, developed in partnership with area organizations and community members. The toolkit is available here.

"This action is reflective of the Elm City’s ongoing efforts to ensure LGBTQ+ inclusion and equity, as evidenced by the city’s recent score of 100 on the 2024 Municipal Equality Index, a comprehensive assessment of LGBTQ+ equality in the areas of municipal policies, law and services conducted annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization.
