Mayor, SBA Celebrate 'Small Business Saturday' Shopping Local Campaign

With stops at Westville businesses Tuesday, SBA, City, Chamber of Commerce kick off the 2024 Season of Small Business shop small campaign.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Mayor Justin Elicker will join representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, local small business owners and officials to kick off the 2024 holiday shopping season, which begins this weekend with Small Business Saturday on November 30th and continues through the end of December.

The U.S. SBA’s Season of Small Business campaign encourages consumers nationwide to #ShopSmall and support their local neighborhood small businesses. In New Haven, there are nearly 700 active small businesses located across the city, and many rely on the holiday shopping season for a higher percentage of their annual sales and revenue. The City of New Haven’s Small Business Resource Center provides New Haven entrepreneurs with free business classes and counseling, technical assistance, access to capital, and networking and mentorship opportunities for both start-up and scaling businesses, among other initiatives.
