New Haven Cops Investigating Weekend Shootings That Injured 4 Men: PD

Around 2:40 a.m., a man was injured in what cops say was a drive-by shooting near 200-block of Temple St., across from the New Haven Green.

NEW HAVEN, CT — In the middle of the night Saturday, police said a drive-by shooting downtown near the Green injured a 32-year-old New Haven man.

It was around 2:40 a.m., when police said they were called to a report of a person shot in the 200 block of Temple Street, adjacent to the New Haven Green. Police posted to "X," that the shot was reported to have been fired from a passing vehicle. The man was taken to the hospital in a private car, suffering from a "graze wound" to his leg, police said.

Investigators found "ballistic evidence at the scene, spoke to "people involved."

Later Saturday, at just after 10 p.m. police posted to "X," that officers were on the scene with a shooting victim in the area of Ferry and Chatham streets. No further updates on that shooting were provided by police.

Then on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., a Shotspotter alert sent police to Shelton Avenue and Ivy Street for a report of three people shot. Investigators learned that it was two 20-year-old men shot, one from New Haven, and one from Hamden. They were taken in private cars to both campuses of Yale New Haven Hospital and are now listed in stable condition after being identified as having critical injuries.
