New Haven Election Results 2023: Elicker Projected Winner As Mayor

Thousands of New Haven residents have cast their votes in the 2023 municipal election in a number of key races.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Justin M. Elicker, a Democrat, is the projected winner on election night. He is projected to defeat his challengers, Thomas A. Goldenberg, a Republican, and Petitioning candidate Wendy Hamilton.

In a statement, Elicker said, "Thank you, New Haven! It’s been an honor to serve as your mayor over these past four years during such a momentous time in the history of our city, and I’m humbled and grateful for your continued trust in me to serve another term. Together, we’ve made so much progress. And, while much work remains, by continuing to work together with a shared set of values and a shared vision of providing every New Havener with the opportunity to thrive, I’m confident the Elm City’s best days are yet to come. Mayor Justin Elicker held off challengers during Tuesday’s municipal elections to win a third term as the city’s highest official.

Elicker, who received more than 5,131 votes with 39% reported, beat Republican Tom Goldenberg and petitioning candidate Wendy Hamilton. They received 1,352 and 267, respectively.

NEW HAVEN, CT — On Nov. 7, New Haven residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: the position of mayor, city clerk, Board of Alder and education.

Residents are also voting on whether New Haven should adopt proposed charter changes.

There are three candidates for mayor, incumbent Democrat, Justin M. Elicker, Republican challenger, Thomas A. Goldenberg, and Petitioning candidate Wendy Hamilton.

The Democratic candidate is Justin M. Elicker and the Republican candidate is Thomas A. Goldenberg and the Petitioning candidate is Wendy Hamilton. Elicker is also listed under the Working Families Party ballot line, and Goldenberg is also listed under the Independent Party.


City Clerk

The Democratic candidate is Michael B. Smart and the Republican candidate is Anthony D. Acri. Smart is also listed under the Working Families Party ballot line.
