NEW HAVEN, CT — Democratic mayor Justin M. Elicker is the projected winner in the New Haven mayoral race, defeating his GOP challenger Steven Orosco.

"It’s been an honor to serve as your mayor, and I’m grateful for your continued trust in me to lead our beloved city," Elicker said in a social media post while declaring victory. "Together, we’ve made incredible progress on so many issues – stabilizing our city’s finances, building more affordable housing, improving public safety, supporting our students & youth, making our roads safer, improving our parks & quality of life & standing up for our values. New Haven is leading the way forward. While much work remains, together we will continue to build a brighter, stronger future for our residents and our city."
