New Haven Free Public Library Foundation's Mardi Gras 2025 Set
In addition to a fun night out, at Mardi Gras, the NHFPL Foundation honors those who have positively impacted the Library and community.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Set for March 4, the New Haven Free Public Library's foundation presents Mardi Gras 2025, a night of fun, food, and drinks to support the library, a "cornerstone of a strong civil society and a thriving democracy."
The event is Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ives Main Library, 133 Elm St.
Each year at Mardi Gras, the New Haven Free Public Library Foundation honors individuals who have positively impacted the Library and the New Haven community, the NHFPL noted in a news release.

This year’s honorees are:
Alder Honda Smith (Ward 30), Library Champion Award for Community Service

Brad Gallant, Former President, NHFPL Board of Directors | Former Member, NHFPL Foundation Board of Directors, Library Champion Award for Lifetime Achievement
The event features entertainment provided by local musician Timmy Maia and catering by Ricky D’s Rib Shack and a cash bar to sip on your favorite beverages by Archie Moore’s.
What you need to know about Mardi Gras at the Library:
- This event is strictly 21+. IDs will be checked at the entrance, so make sure to bring a valid ID. Alcohol will be served to those with proper identification.
- Mardi Gras 2025 will feature a cash bar. To make your experience smoother, we kindly ask all attendees to bring cash for any drink purchases. Unfortunately, credit/debit cards won't be accepted at the bar.
- Parking Yale Lot 51 will be available and free for the event
