NEW HAVEN, CT —There's a lot going on in September in all New Haven Free Public Library branches.

From free Friday films at the Ives branch to community conversations to speakers, classes, even the Why Knot? Club.

The Unhoused Activists Community Team, U-ACT, an organization made up of people fighting
for the rights and dignity of unhoused people in New Haven, meets every Friday at Ives Main Library.

Spanish Language Conversation Club is held Wednesdays, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Fair haven branch.

Voter Registration Day Celebration Tuesday, Sept. 17 Register to vote with help from the League of Women Voters and the New Haven Office of Disability Services. Then join us for a workshop. Patricia Rossi, a representative from New Haven’s League of Women Voters, will discuss the CT legislatures’ recent CT voting changes that will apply to all coming elections. Gretchen Knauff, Director of Disability Services of City of New Haven, will focus on rights and procedures for voters with disabilities, as well as voter rights in general.

Documentary Film Screening - Vigilante: Georgia’s Voter Suppression Hitman Saturday, September 14 , 2-4 pm | MITCHELL This documentary investigates Governor Brian Kemp’s voting policies and examines his family’s historical ties to racism and slavery in the state. A short discussion will follow.

Music Haven Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Saturday, September 21, 11 am-12:30 pm | FAIR
HAVEN Join us as our friends from Music Haven play a concert featuring Hispanic composers and cultural milestones.

No Haven: The Connecticut Mob and the Rise of America’s Model City. Friday, September 6, 2-3 pm | IVES Join Paul Bleakley for this launch of his new book which examines the often untold story of the state’s organized crime scene from a small-scale operation in the 1950s to its climactic fall in the late 1980s.
