New Haven Man, 21, While Riding Dirt Bike, Gunned Down In Drive-By: PD

What began was a noon-time 911 call about a shooting in Fair Haven, ended up being a homicide investigation after the young victim died: PD.

NEW HAVEN, CT — It was just after noon Wednesday that cops were dispatched to the Ferry and Wolcott streets are for a report of a shooting.

Police said that callers reported that a "male on a dirt bike" was shot by a person in a vehicle that appeared to be following him.

When cops got there, they found Niygere L Wicker, 21, of New Haven suffering from gunshot wounds. Wicker was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. His family was notified, authorities noted.

A crime scene was established and New Haven police detectives "identified a suspect vehicle," it was noted in a news release posted to "X."
