NEW HAVEN, CT — A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting inside a Read Street home during a fight in the early morning hours Sunday, police said.
Sebastian Award of New Haven was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and several gun charges, according to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart. Award was held on $200,000 bail, police said.
It was just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, when cops got a 911 call about a person who'd been shot on Read Street between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street. When officers got there, they found the man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. "It was reported that there was a fight at the residence with a second person and the victim was shot during the struggle," Bruckhart said. Taken to Yale-New Haven hospital for treatment, the man was then listed in stable condition, police said.
