New Haven Man, 54, Charged In Overnight Downtown 'Stabbing': Police

In an argument with a man he accused of "stealing a speaker," Lawrence Kelley cut the man across the face with a razor blade, per victim: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — Not long after midnight Thursday, police said they were called to the intersection of Chapel and Temple streets for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found "suspect" Lawrence Kelley, 54, and "detained without incident."

According to police, "the victim reported that he is familiar with Kenny and an argument started when Kelly accused him of stealing a speaker."

"The argument escalated when Kelly took out a silver, sharp object that the victim thought was a razor blade, and cut him across the face," according to police.

The victim was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Kelley was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.
