New Haven Man, 75, Arrested At Airport With Revolver, Live Rounds: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT —Early March 5, a 75-year-old New Haven man about to board a plane was arrested at Tweed airport after he was found to be in possession of a revolver, police said.
It was 7:45 a.m. when cops were called to Tweed New Haven Airport for a report of a passenger in possession of a firearm in his luggage, police said.
Authorities said Glen Bierwirth had a revolver which had been disassembled in what police said "appeared to be an attempt to evade airport regulations." Police said that he also had
"several live rounds of ammunition in his possession."

Bierwirth, police said, previously had a pistol permit, but it was expired. The elderly man was taken into custody and charged with possession of a pistol without a permit and circumventing airport security.
