NEW HAVEN, CT —Emanuel Lowery, 23, of New Haven, was sentenced to six years in prison for criminal possession of a gun, New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. said.

According to Doyle and evidence presented at trial, Lowery made telephone calls while in the custody of the Department of Correction to a family member asking them to remove an item from the back driver's seat of a relative's vehicle.

"After an execution of a search warrant, members of the New Haven Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit located a loaded .38-caliber Special revolver." Doyle said. A previously convicted felon, Lowery is prohibited under state law from possessing firearms and has a prior conviction for the same offense, Doyle said.
