New Haven Mom Is 'Strong, Loving & Reliable,' Daughter Says

NEW HAVEN, CT— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom has six adult children. We put her through the wringer — some more than others. We've watched her work, clean, cook and care for her own mother when she was sick with dementia. That alone takes a special kind of person and I admire how she loved and never gave up on caregiving. No matter how big of a disagreement we may get into with her, she's always there to help us with our kids or anything else for that matter. Our relationship has gotten so much better over the years, especially as I became a mother myself. I've realized how it's not easy and how back then I didn't understand, but now I get why she did and did not do some things. She's strong and loving and reliable.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

My mom deserves the spotlight because even though her kids are adults, we are still her children. She's been through a lot to get where she is and I'm so proud of the person that she is.
