New Haven Schools Teacher Honored With 'Life Changing Teaching Award'
There were 1,400 nominations, but Friday it was revealed that Worthington Hooker School 2nd-grade teacher Hilarie Alden was the honoree.

NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven 2nd-grade teacher Hilarie Alden was surprised Friday to learn they'd been chosen for the Life Changing Teaching Award. The honor, which included a cash award, was presented at the beginning of an assembly at Worthington Hooker School Friday.
The award is given in partnership with Honored Schools, a non-profit national organization that focuses on teacher recognition. The purpose of the Life Changing Teaching Award is to celebrate impactful educators who are making differences in the lives of their students and school communities.
Over 1,400 nominations were submitted by students and families in New Haven. The Honored Schools team reviewed the nominations and identified finalists, which were then shared with a panel of New Haven community leaders, who blindly reviewed them and selected the teacher at Worthington Hooker.
