NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Science Fair is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary with over 200 hands-on projects created by students and teachers from across the city debuting on May 13. This milestone year will culminate in a special awards event on May 14, recognizing the creativity, hard work, and scientific curiosity of New Haven’s youth
For three decades, the Science Fair has united students, educators, and local science professionals in a shared mission: to inspire a love of science and strengthen STEM education in New Haven.

The event is the result of a long-standing partnership between New Haven Public Schools and the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and offers PreK–12 students the chance to explore real-world scientific challenges, conduct research, and present their findings to the community. Support from local universities, research institutions, and dedicated volunteers, who serve as mentors and judges, continues to be essential to the program’s success.
Building on this momentum, the Greater New Haven Bioscience Collaborative is partnering once
again with New Haven Public Schools and the Greater New Haven Chamber to present the second annual Science Week, a citywide celebration of science education running from May 12 through May 16.

Throughout the week, 26 middle schools across New Haven will host engaging STEM activities designed to spark curiosity and promote hands-on learning. Over 4,000 New Haven public school students will participate in exciting field trips to area companies, offering a firsthand look at science in action and introducing students to careers in STEM.
One of the exciting activities of the week is Operation Artery, a district-wide STEM initiative involving nearly 4,000 middle school students, who will collaboratively build biomedical
devices in a fun, interactive learning experience. Middle school students will present their
Operation Artery projects on Wednesday, May 14, at 11 am at Davis Street Arts & Academics
School. This program is made possible by a generous donation from BioMedX.
"New Haven Public Schools is proud to participate in Science Week, culminating with the
annual Science Fair, which highlights our students’ ability to think like scientists and
engineers—posing questions, solving problems, and communicating their discoveries. This is
more than an academic event—it’s a celebration of innovation, resilience, and future-forward
thinking," said Robert McCain, Supervisor of Science and Manufacturing, New Haven Public
Schools.
Science Week is a part of a broader commitment by companies in the New Haven Bioscience
Collaborative and supported by the Good Jobs Challenge to support STEM education and prepare New Haven’s future workforce.
