New Haven Sisters, Both McDonald's Workers, Sang At McD's NYC Event

NEW HAVEN, CT — Twin sisters Nina and Shelagh Laverty, of New Haven, have been singing together for years, and recently, they performed the National Anthem at the McDonald's All American Games in Brooklyn, to be televised on ESPN.

The UConn students have been working at the Branford McDonald's for years.

The event featured 3-point contests, dunk competition and a knockout game.

Local Connecticut McDonald's owner operator Sara Amato traveled to New York to surprise Nina and Shelagh, recognizing them as part of the 1 in 8 community and presenting them with exclusive "employees only" swag, including a 1 in 8 jacket. Nina and Shelagh are part of McDonald's "1 in 8," meaning among the one in eight Americans who have worked at McDonald’s.
