Teen, 17, Wanted For Robbery Accidentally Shot Himself: New Haven PD

Wanted for 1st-degree robbery in Milford, he shot himself with a handgun he'd pulled from his waist then drove to ER in a stolen car: Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 17-year-old from New Haven, wanted in a nearby town for robbery, shot himself "accidentally," police said.

Just before noon Monday, he went to the emergency department of the Saint Raphael campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital on Orchard Street in a "private car," per police. According to a post on "X," the boy told police he "accidentally shot himself while taking a handgun out from his waistband."

And the vehicle, cops said, turned out to be stolen.

And because the teen has an active Milford Police Department first-degree robbery warrant, he was "transferred" to Milford police custody. Hospitalized, his condition was listed as non-life threatening as of Monday afternoon, police said.
