New Haven Woman, Acting As Ride Hailing Driver, Gets 12 Years For Hit-And-Run: Court
The woman, 27, was driving, with no license, an unregistered, uninsured car with passengers when she hit man, 63, permanently injuring him.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Jamiramarquisha Perry, 27, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a hit-and-run that left a 63-year-old man with permanent serious injuries, according to John P. Doyle, Jr., State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven.
On Nov. 12, 2025 at around 9 a.m. on Chapel Street, Perry was driving an "unregistered, uninsured motor vehicle, without a license, as a ride-hailing service, and had two customers in the car," Doyle said. Doyle said Perry was "driving at a high rate of speed" when pedestrian Kevin Coleman began to cross the street. "The passengers warned (Perry) to slow down but she did not, struck the victim and continued to drive, ignoring passengers’ pleas to stop the vehicle," Doyle said.
"Eventually," Perry stopped the car and let the passengers out, "And when they did, she drove off and did not call for help." Doyle said, adding that Perry "later traveled on vacation to Florida."

According to Doyle, a witness to the hit-and-run took a photo of Perry's car and license tag, and "With this lead, New Haven police officers developed the defendant as a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued," Doyle said. "Officers found the defendant hiding under a stairwell at the time the arrest warrant was served."
On April 10, Perry agreed to a plea and was found guilty in New Haven Superior Court of Evading Responsibility, Doyle said. Perry's 12-year sentence will be suspended after serving 66 months, and upon release will serve five years of probation.
