New Haven Woman Charged In Pre-Dawn Burglary Of Westville Eatery: PD
At 3:40 a.m. March 11, Chen's Village was broken into by a brick-wielding woman who got away with a tip jar containing less than $20: NHPD.

NEW HAVEN, CT —On March 11, cops were called to the reported burglary of a Chinese restaurant in Westville, police posted on social media.
From surveillance camera footage, investigators learned that at 3:40 a.m., the take-out spot was "broken into by a person using a brick." Police said the person in the video footage was a woman who they said stole a tip jar with less than $20 in it.
But, they said, damage to the door of the eatery was around $1,000.

The video footage was widely shared across social media, police said.
New Haven police Robbery and Burglary Unit Detective MacIver secured an arrest warrant for Mary DeJesse, 26, of New Haven. Taken into custody, she was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief. Police said she was held on a $10,000 bail.

Court records show she was already facing similar charges on a case from February and is due in court Wednesday for a plea hearing.
