New Haven & Woodbridge's Amity Plaza Site Of Extensive Flooding
An entrance to the plaza, home to Bank of America, Stop & Shop, many businesses, closed Thursday, affecting city bus pickup, stranded cars.
NEW HAVEN-WOODBRIDGE, CT — The popular and always-busy Amity Plaza was dramatically flooded Thursday, shuttering the main entrance, which prevented city buses from coming into the frequently bustling plaza.
Home to Stop & Shop, the stop & Shop gas station, Bank of America, Dollar Tree, several eateries, and myriad other businesses including Taco Bell and fitness center Planet Fitness, shoppers needed to navigate around numerous closed parking areas and a single lane entrance and exit.

The Bank of America was shuttered and appeared to have extensive flooding damage. An alarm was consistently blaring midday. A call and email to regional spokesperson for the bank, Juan Soto said: “Unfortunately, because of the flooding, we had to close our financial center to ensure the safety of our teammates and our clients. We expect to reopen our center tomorrow morning.”
