NEW HAVEN, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) Javier Angelo Méndez, 56, of New Haven died suddenly at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Javier was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 11, 1965, a son of Luz Martínez of Puerto Rico and the late Miguel Méndez and had resided in New Haven for more than 35 years. Javier owned and operated Borícua Barber Shop of New Haven for the past 25 years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Crystal Méndez of West Haven, three sons, Jaime Méndez of Florida, Vincenzo Méndez of West Haven and Angel Pérez of Middletown, one sister, Lucy Méndez, four grandchildren, Johnadia, Ivyanna and Ezra Vereen and Scarlet Valentino, his longtime companion Tina DeLucia of East Haven, and many loving friends. Javier's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A prayer service will take place during visitation. Burial will be private.
