Obituary: Clarence “Picky” Dixon Jr., 63, of New Haven
Picky, a devoted son and friend to many, was a previous employee of both New Haven Public Works and U.S. Surgical.
NEW HAVEN, CT - (From Keenan Funeral Home) On Sunday February 20, 2022, Clarence “Picky” Dixon Jr. departed this earthly life at Yale New Haven Hospital. Clarence was born on April 26, 1958 in the Bronx, New York. He is the son of Rev. Curtis and Irene Jenkins.
Clarence was educated in the New Haven Public school system and went on to graduate from Lee High School. Clarence was previously employed as a short order cook at U.S Surgical.
Later he went on to work for New Haven Public Works as a sanitation worker. He enjoyed cooking and one of his favorite dishes to make was those “Shake and Bake” pork chops.
In his past time he loved to walk, watch Jeopardy and spend time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his parents Rev. Curtis and Irene Jenkins; his sisters Minnie (Doyle) Bethel of Springfield, Ohio, Lana Dixon and Dorothy Jenkins both of New Haven, Viola Dixon of Springfield Ohio, and Sandra Jenkins of New Haven; his children Vernon Dixon and Amber Creyts of Ohio; a dear friend Thomas Ahern to whom he has been a caregiver for many years.
As well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Clarence was preceded in death by his mother Harriet Jane Dixon; his father Clarence Dixon Sr.; his grandmother Tiny Wilson; his brother Frankie and Harold Dixon.; dear aunt Minnie Harrison; and his son Chase Dixon.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Alice and Jeffery Obryan for the extensive amount of love they've shown him for many years.
