Obituary: Lawrence W. Cramer, Sr. Ret. NHPD, 83, of New Haven
Lawrence was a decorated officer for the New Haven Police Department and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Carmel Council.
NEW HAVEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) In New Haven, on August 31, 2021 Lawrence W. Cramer, Sr. Ret. NHPD. Loving husband of the late Marie Simone Cramer and loving father of Lawrence W. Cramer, Jr. of Hamden and William V. Cramer of Pittsburgh, PA., brother of William V. Cramer, Jr. of New Haven.
Also survived by his 6 cherished grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Richard P. Cramer and sisters Shirley Turski and Rosemary Erland.
Mr. Cramer was born in New Haven December 18, 1937 son of the late William V. and Martha Sullivan Cramer, Sr. He retired after 41 years from the New Haven Police Dept.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carmel Council.
Lawrence was Policeman of the Year in 1969 for the rescue of a child and was awarded the Purple Cross by the NHPD for being wounded in the line of duty.
He was also one of the longest serving Patrolman in NHPD history.
His funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Saturday (Sept. 11th) at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday (Sept. 10th) from 6 – 9 p.m.
