Obituary: Luís Fernando "Wiso" González, 45, of New Haven
Wiso, adored by many and a beloved pillar in the community, worked as a hair stylist, owning and operating the first mobile barber shop.
NEW HAVEN, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) Luís Fernando "Wiso" González, 45 of New haven, formerly of Naguabo, Puerto Rico died suddenly at his home on Monday, September 6, 2021.
Luís was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on February 6, 1976, a son of Luís González and Maria Socorro Sándoz of Naguabo. He had resided in New Haven for the past 25 years.
Among Wiso's many talents was music and being a DJ. He had a passion for race cars, and loved caring for animals. Later he discovered his passion for cutting hair, but never forgot his music. Upon arriving to Connecticut, Wiso discovered that not only did he have a passion for cutting men's hair, but for styling women's hair as well.
He then ventured off to become an entrepreneur, being the first in Connecticut to own and operate the first Mobile Barber Shop.
Wiso was a funny, community oriented, sympathetic, loving, innovator, dreamer, community therapist, and humble person.
He very much loved his family and friends, especially his children Yandel and Angel (Pupi). Veronica Velázquez was a part of his life for years, in which both had two wonderful children.
He had a 10 year relationship with his girlfriend Amarilis López.
They didn't have any children together, but did have their loving four legged companion Romeo.
In addition to his parents and girlfriend, Luís is survived by his two sons Yandel González and Angel Jael Maldonado of Allentown, PA, a sister, Magda González and her husband Ismael Martínez Mojica of Naguabo, his uncle and aunt, Rev. Tony Brenes and Dulce Brenes of New Haven, niece, Teichmarie López Williams of Naguabo, cousins, Minister Griselle McFadden and her husband Albert McFadden and Ita Brenes of New Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Wiso was renowned for his happy and outgoing demeanor, and loved to make others laugh.
He was always the shining star of the party, and will be sorely missed. Luís' family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob, 185 Chapel St., New Haven.
Burial will be private. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements.
