Mark S. Maturo, 73, of New Haven beloved husband of Charlene Mazzucco Maturo passed away on June 28, 2025 surrounded by his family at MidState Medical Center. Loving father of Mark (Megan) Maturo of Orange and Christine (Christopher) Breen of Weymouth, MA. Grandfather of Noelle “Punkie-poo” and James “Giacomo” Breen and Ellie “Ellie-Lou” Maturo. They were the light of his life. Brother of Cheryl Maturo Morgan of East Haven, Joel (Michele) Maturo of NC and the late Philip G. Maturo. Brother-in-law of Patricia Mazzucco of East Haven. After working as a manufacturing supervisor at HB Ives and baking overnights at Apicella's Bakery, Mark became the proud owner of Rae’s Driving School in East Haven and Madison. For over 35 years, his gentle instruction helped countless students gain independence by earning their licenses. Mark also acted as de facto mentor to students who turned to him for personal guidance. Mark was a devoted family man who cherished the holidays and large family gatherings, where stories were shared and memories were made. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and tropical getaways, and making the occasional “donation” at the casino. His favorite destination was Cape May, where he and Charlene spent countless Indian summers together over the past two decades. Mark enjoyed many trips to Yankee Stadium with his family, playing the Beatles "Rubber Soul" and The Rolling Stones "Flashpoint" on full blast in his car, and watching Star Trek TNG. Mark was also famous for his stuffed pepper breads and pasta e fagioli. Mark will be remembered for his patience, steady presence, and quiet wisdom -qualities that will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many students whose lives he touched.
