Obituary: Thomas R. Ryan, Sr., 82, of New Haven

Thomas R. Ryan, Sr., 82 of New Haven, passed peacefully Sunday April 14, 2024, at Yale Smilow Cancer Center. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Ruocco Ryan for 62 years. Thomas was born on March 24, 1942, to the late Edward and Ethel Vida Ryan. He was a graduate of Eli Whitney Technical High School. He was an auto mechanic and worked at many local dealerships. He ended his years as a mechanic after eighteen years as a Mobil Dealer in Wallingford. He retired from Echlin.

Tom never gave up his love for cars and owned several antique cars which he prized. Tom and his wife made several trips to Cancun with family and friends. They also visited friends in Florida and Puerto Rico.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children; Maria Ryan (Donald Sharron), Cheryl Luzzi, Thomas Ryan, Jr. (Francesca Dahlmeyer); his beloved grandsons Salvatore and Anthony Luzzi; his siblings Edward Ryan, Jr. (Phyllis) & Margaret Triumfo. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Marian (Michael) and brother-in-law Gennaro Ruocco.

Tom was predeceased by his brother Robert Ryan, sisters Vivian Ruotolo & Barbara Benevento and sister-in-law Lois Ruocco.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas will be celebrated FRIDAY April 19th at 11:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
