Officer Hurt, Cruiser Struck In CT Crash: Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — Law enforcement are seeking the public’s help after a police cruiser was struck overnight in downtown New Haven, according to authorities.
A New Haven officer was traveling east on George Street approaching Church Street around 3 a.m. Sunday and was proceeding through the intersection at a green light when the cruiser was hit by a white BMW, authorities said. The occupants of the BMW fled but a passenger returned shortly afterward and was cooperative, according to authorities.
The officer was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. The BMW was not reported stolen and is registered but officers had not been able to make contact with the driver as of late Sunday morning, according to police.
