Part Of $2.8M Investment, Lighthouse Point Park Playground Unveiled
The new playground, a new maintenance building, and the slated upgrades to the bath house represent an overall $2.8M investment in park.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Kicking off the 2024 beach season, state and local officials gathered on the eve of the Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate the newly installed children’s playground and other improvements at Lighthouse Point Park.
The new playground, a new maintenance building, and planned upgrades to the bath house represent an overall $2.8 million investment in the park, made possible through a combination of city, state, and federal American Rescue Plan funding, according to city officials.
Joined by state Senate President Martin Looney, state Rep. Al Paolillo, City Engineer Giovanni Zinn, New Haven Youth and Recreation Department Director Gwendolyn B. Williams, and New Haven Parks & Public Works Deputy Director Stephen Hladun, among others, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker described the park as a "beloved local and regional destination."

"Lighthouse Point Park is frequented by thousands of New Haveners and visitors every summer," an announcement from Elicker reads, "providing free beach access for residents and a variety of other amenities including a playground, splash pad, carousel, pavilions, and other outdoor recreational activities."
