Update: 'Pedestrian' Struck, Killed Late Wednesday On Foxon Blvd. Identified: NHPD
Near the Foxon Blvd., Walmart around 10:15 p.m., Jaime Melendez-Martinez, 58, of New Haven, was hit and later died from his injuries: PD.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Late Wednesday night, a pedestrian was struck, and killed, in the 200 block of Foxon Boulevard, police posted to "X."
It was 10:13 p.m. when police responded to the "vehicle versus pedestrian collision." Police said that the victim "ultimately succumbed to his injuries."
Based on the initial investigation, it appears the victim, Jaime Melendez-Martinez, 58, of New Haven, walked onto the eastbound lane of Foxon Boulevard from the Walmart parking lot, police said.

Melendez-Martinez was crossing Foxon Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk, police said, and was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Foxon Boulevard toward Quinnipiac Avenue. The vehicle initially left the scene but later went to the New Haven Police Department to report the crash.
Melendez was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. His family has been notified.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. No arrests have been made yet and the incident is still under investigation
