UPDATE: Man Shot Inside Valley Street House Monday Night Hit By 'Shrapnel From Gun Fired At Him:' Police

The 29-year-old, who suffered what police said deemed non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Police Department said officers responded to a report of a "person shot" just after 10:30 p.m., Monday night, in the West Hills neighborhood, police posted to "X," early Tuesday.

Later in the day, police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart noted that cops were called to the 200 block of Valley Street for a report of an 29-year-man who'd been "shot following an argument" and was struck by "shrapnel or debris from a gun fired at him inside" the house.

Initially, police said the man's "injuries were superficial."
