Pieper Veterinary sent my dying dog home, saying he "was fine."

Poor Medical Care

I brought my dog, Dublin, to Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center (in Middletown) on Aug 7th because he wasn't feeling well. They discharged him after a couple hours, saying he "was fine." Dublin died later that night. After Dublin died, I reached out to the doctor that treated him, seeking an explanation. She told me that she "doesn't know what was wrong with him/why he died."

I was really irritated after hearing that, considering it was her job to figure out what was wrong with him. I'm disgusted that they sent a dying animal home, saying he's "fine," rather than finding out what was wrong with him and giving him the medical care he needed.

I requested to be refunded for Dublin's medical & cremation fees. Pieper immediately refunded my family for Dublin's medical fees, but initially refused to refund us for the cremation fees. When I spoke with one of the medical directors, she told me that she won’t authorize a refund for his cremation fees and had the nerve to tell me that she doesn't appreciate how I'm talking. It's like too bad... I don't appreciate the terrible medical care that they gave my dog. ALSO, she made an incredibly obnoxious and ignorant comment, saying "your family doesn't want to pay his cremation fees?" (implying my family just doesn't feel like paying it). By right, since Pieper messed up, they should pay for Dublin's cremation fees.

When I told the hospital how obnoxious & insensitive the medical director that I spoke with was, they refunded my family for Dublin's cremation fees. Even though I appreciate the refund... it doesn't make up for the fact that they sent my dying dog home, telling me that he "was fine," rather than giving him the medical care that he needed. I would choose Dublin over any amount of money. Pieper is not a place I could recommend after the poor medical care they gave my dog.
