NEW HAVEN, CT — An overnight shots-fired report Tuesday left one injured, New Haven police said. It was around 2:45 a.m., that police received a call about gunshots on Congress Avenue, officials posted to "X."

"It appears that a house was struck," by gunfire, police noted. "The victim was inside and then stepped on glass, causing injuries to his feet."

Later Tuesday, Police Chief Karl Jacobson said there were a total of six shots fired near Congress and Redfield Street and a house nearby was struck, with a sleeping mother and child inside. At a news conference on another incident, Jacobson said the child had cuts on their feet, but it wasn't confirmed if that was a result of broken glass shattered by a bullet or a bullet itself.
