Scooter Rider Critically Injured In Late Night Hit & Run Crash: PD
A scooter rider is fighting for their life after being critically injured in a hit & run crash at Whalley Ave. and Amity Road Wednesday: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — A scooter rider was critically injured by a vehicle in a late night hit-and-run crash, police said.
It was just after 11 p.m. Wednesday when police learned that a person riding a scooter was struck at the intersection of Whalley Avenue and Amity Road, according to New Haven police spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr. The vehicle fled the scene of the crash, she said, and police were unsuccessful in locating it.
The driver of the scooter was found unresponsive in the roadway and first responders rendered aid and then rushed them to Yale New Haven Hospital, Carr said. Medical personnel told police the person suffered from life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, Carr said.

The New Haven Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was activated and spoke to witnesses on scene and searched for surveillance video footage, Carr said. It was reported that the evading vehicle was traveling west through the intersection of Whalley Avenue at Amity Road, as the operator of the scooter was traveling east on Whalley when they collided at the intersection, police said.
