Sketch Of Man Suspected Of Sexually Assaulting Fort Hale Park​ Jogger Released By NHPD

Police are asking for help from the public with information "regarding an unknown individual who committed a sexual assault."

NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven police Special Victims Unit released a sketch of the man they suspect sexually assaulted a person jogging on a trail south of the Fort Hale Dog Park Saturday.

Police said it was around 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. that a sexual assault on a trail in the Townsend Avenue dog park was reported.

The man is described as a Hispanic male approximately 5'6" or 5'7" tall, medium build and was wearing a blue pattern polo shirt, gray dress pants and brown dress shoes on the day of the assault, police noted.

After the assault, police said the man had dark brown/black cropped hair with a short beard and a possible rash around his mouth. He was wielding a silver box cutter with a silver blade and spoke with a broken English accent, police added. He was last seen walking northbound on the trail back toward the park.

Police have asked anyone with video footage from the area of Woodward and Townsend avenues between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., call police at 203-946-6305 or leave an anonymous tip at 1-866-888-8477.

In the newly released sketch of the suspected assailant, police noted that callers may remain anonymous by calling 911 and asking for the police detective division at 203-946-6304. Anonymous tips can be sent to the tip line or email to ECIC@NewHavenct.gov. Emails can also be sent to SVU detective S. Romano at sromano@newhavenct.gov or SUV Supervisor Sgt. C. Carr at ccarr@newhavenct.gov.
