A Slice Of New Haven History: Grand Apizza Listed For $450,000

William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty listed the iconic Grand Avenue site, which has served New Haven-style apizza since 1955.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A building, yes, but also a slice of New Haven history.

William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty has listed 111 Grand Ave., the site of one of the first restaurants to serve iconic New Haven-style apizza, for $450,000.

In business since 1955, the restaurant has been "extremely lucrative over the years," the listing reads.

The stand-alone building has recently been completely remodeled with a new roof, flooring, bathrooms and windows. It has a paved driveway with parking for more than 25 vehicles – "Perfect to keep up with busy nights," the listing says.

George Carranzo, who has owned the apizzera for 17 years, is quoted in the listing: "It's been an honor to serve our community for the past 17 years and watching my daughters grow up in the restaurant and my customer's kids turning into customers themselves."
