Students In SCSU Summer Studio Program Celebrated With Graduation Exhibition Wednesday
On exhibition are projects by early-college students who spent 5 weeks immersed in visual communication, digital art, and design thinking.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Southern Connecticut State University will celebrate the accomplishments of students in its Summer Studio program with a graduation ceremony and exhibition Wednesday in the Earl Hall Gallery.
The showcase will feature final projects from early-college students who spent five weeks
immersed in visual communication, digital art, and design thinking through Southern
Connecticut State University’s Summer Studio program.
This early-college initiative gives high school students hands-on experience in design and digital media, offering valuable exposure to creative career pathways while earning credits that prepare them for future academic and professional opportunities.

Under the mentorship of SCSU faculty and professional designers, participants developed
creative portfolios showcasing their skills in graphic design, digital illustration, typography, and
visual storytelling.
"Summer Studio is more than a class—it’s an incubator for the next generation of creative thinkers," said Melanie Uribe, program director and assistant professor of graphic design at SCSU. "These students have developed professional-level work that positions them for success in college applications and creative careers."
