Sushi On Chapel Closes As Owner Retires, Korean Eatery Signs Lease

After 16 years in business, Sushi on Chapel in downtown New Haven closed its doors, but a Korean eatery will take its place later this year.

NEW HAVEN, CT — After 16 years in business, Sushi on Chapel in downtown New Haven closed its doors this week.

“We would like to offer our deepest gratitude for supporting Sushi on Chapel over the years. It's with heavy hearts that we announce our closure. It’s time for us to retire," owner and operator, Intak Choi shared. "We will dearly miss our cherished customers, whose support has meant the world to us. However, we are pleased to inform you that we have helped source a new restaurant that will continue to uphold the same standard of excellence and freshness you've come to expect from us.”

A lease has already been signed by a new restaurateur for the space. New Haven foodies can anticipate dining at the new Korean restaurant concept later this year, following a redesign of the space. Updates regarding the new restaurant will be posted on The Shops at Yale Instagram page.
