Teen, 16, Dies After Shooting; School Bus Struck: New Haven Police
Police said a passing school bus was struck by a stray round in the shooting in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 16-year-old New Haven resident has died after being shot Friday afternoon in New Haven, police said in an update.
Police responded around 2:35 p.m. to the area of Goffe Street by Hudson Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Subsequent 911 calls reported a person shot, according to police.
Arriving officers found that a 16-year-old boy had been shot. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said in a news release Friday night.

“As officers were canvassing for suspects, one 16-year-old was detained on Hudson Street in possession of a ‘ghost gun’ with an extended magazine,” police wrote in the news release. “It does not appear the juvenile was responsible for the shooting. Officers also learned that a passing school bus with children on it was struck by a stray bullet.
“The bus driver acted quickly and stopped several blocks away from the scene; no children on the bus were injured and members of the Yale Child Study were dispatched to assist with them.”
