Update: 26-Year-Old Victim Of Weekend Fatal Stabbing ID'd By Police
Rushed to St. Raphael's hospital in a private car Saturday, Shamar Gibson of New Haven, was stabbed multiple times, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Update: Police identified the person who was stabbed to death Saturday as Shamar Gibson, 26, of New Haven.

Police released new details regarding a fatal stabbing that occurred on Saturday afternoon.
At 2:12 p.m. police responded to the emergency department of the St. Raphael’s campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital, 1450 Chapel Street, for the report of a stabbing victim who arrived by private vehicle, police said.

"Responding officers quickly established a crime scene at the main entrance of the hospital where the vehicle was left and were able to determine that the assault occurred on Orchard Street but were not sure of the exact location," police said in a news release. "As officers were securing the scene, a caller reported that there was blood on the walkway and fence of an address in the area of Orchard Street and Henry Street. Additional officers responded to that location and established another crime scene."
The victim, a 26-year-old New Haven resident, was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. He sustained several apparent stab wounds. Detectives responded to process both scenes.
Police said the victim was Shamar Gibson, of New Haven.
